Coal is notorious for carbon emissions and causing health issues. But, for a very long time, coal has been used for energy in China far too long.  The health issues caused by heavy use of coal are chronic conditions with the lungs and eventually cancer.

China’s Original Source of Energy

China’s main power source for energy is coal. Millions of tons of coal is used to produce electric power. China is one of the largest producers of Carbon Dioxide. A large amount of people (750,000) each year die from burning coal. The population has to walk around with masks on a consistent basis.

Coal Plants Expansion

Coal-fired power plants in three key industrial regions around Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou have deplorable air conditions causing horrendous pollution.  China is trying to find new ways to implement electricity through renewable energy. The extension of current measures to prevent and control air pollution in 2018 and beyond, as well as the state’s continued push to develop renewables, mean that momentum for China’s energy transition will remain, including the on-going switch of heating from coal to natural gas.

Solar Farm

In an effort to implement cleaner energy, China built a solar farm in the shape of a panda.  “China Merchants New Energy Group, one of the country’s largest clean energy operators, built a 248-acre solar farm in the shape of a giant panda.”(https://www.businessinsider.com/china-panda-solar-power-plant)

It should produce 3.2 billion kilowatt-hours of solar energy in 25 years.

The reduction of 2.74 carbon emissions and relying on coal for energy, China merchants new energy group worked with the United Nations New Development Program to make a power plant come alive. China is trying to raise awareness about clean energy.
