Have you ever noticed that when one truck passes another on the highway, the “passer” will go only slightly faster than the “passee”, so that it takes 10 minutes to complete the pass?
Meanwhile, there is a line-up of cars two miles long, since the two trucks are taking up both lanes.
I can picture the two fat trucker bastards in there laughing it up on the CBs about the little bit of power they have over the highway. Stop being an asshole, and just let people go where they need to go!

That happens because many trucks are mechanically speed restricted, Both are going at their maximum speeds. The driver at fault is the one BEING PASSED. He knows that they’re both driving governed engines- all he has to do is slow down for a few seconds, let the other truck pass, than bring his speed back up to what it was. It only takes a few seconds.
Ah, thank you for the clarification!
Then why is it that once the truck passes and it moves back into the slow lane he picks up speed and actually goes at a speed ten miles an hour faster then before when he was passing the other truck.
That’s nothing I’ve ever seen happen. You might be getting fooled- instead of the passing truck speeding up, it might be the passed truck slowing down to get better following distance.
