Great pieces of science fiction have the ability to “predict” the future and make for one of the most interesting genres in film and literature.  Isaac Asimov once said, “Today’s science fiction is tomorrow’s science fact.”  Going as far back as 1888, An Express of the Future described a transatlantic tunnel that would shoot high-speed passenger trains through pneumatic tubes using pressurized air.  Today, Elon Musk is working on a hyperloop system that might transport passengers from Los Angeles to San Francisco in only 35 minutes.

Jumping forward to 1990, the movie Total Recall envisioned the Johnny Cab where an odd humanoid driver could chauffeur you around.  Today, Google and Uber are both investing in autonomous vehicle technology and might one day have their own self-driven taxi firms.
